Amy Ellen Mills, GW #144
Amy was born on 29 June 1902 in Pittsburgh to James and Minnie (Wedge) Mills. James was an immigrant from England and Minnie was an immigrant from Canada. In the 1910 census, James is not listed with the family though Minnie is listed as married. In 1920, it appears that James is renting a room from a married couple in Pittsburgh and is listed as a widowed. At the time of Minnie’s death in 1942, it is recorded that she is the widow of Joseph Williams. Apparently, Amy and her siblings grew up in an unstable home. It is likely that Amy entered the Gospel Worker Society because of the Society’s mission in Pittsburgh. In 1920, 1930, and 1940 Amy is living in Cleveland with the other Gospel Workers. However, in August of 1940 Amy married William Froehlich of Cleveland, a chauffeur. At some point they moved to the Dallas area of Texas where William died in 1962. Amy died on 15 October 1983 and is buried next to him in Grove Hill Memorial park, Dallas County, Texas.
