Annie L Halteman, GW #27 

Annie was born on 22 November 1878 to Benjamin and Sophia (Latshaw) Halteman in North Coventry Township, Chester County, Pa.  Benjamin was a farmer and the family was connected to the East Coventry Mennonite Church.  Sadly, Annie’s father passed away when she was only 9 years old.  Annie entered the Gospel Worker Society in 1898.  In 1900 she was serving in Gettysburg with Mamie Caskie.  From 1910 until her death, she lived on the Gospel Worker Society compound in Cleveland, Ohio, working in publishing.  In the 1920 city directory for Cleveland, Annie is listed as a proofreader.  For what it’s worth, she got a Social Security number in 1963 when she was 75 years old.  Annie died on 5 October 1970 in Cleveland and is buried in the Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, in the Mapleside section of the cemetery.
