Caroline Elizabeth Conway, GW #173

Caroline was born on 13 March 1915 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to Samuel and Cora (Clark) Conway.  Caroline’s sister Edna also was a Gospel Worker.  They probably learned of the Gospel Worker Society from the mission in that city.  Sadly, in 1938 Caroline’s father died.  She probably joined the society soon after; by 1940 she and her sister are listed with the Gospel Workers in the federal census.  By 1948 Caroline is in California where she married George S. Reed who is six years her junior.  It appears they did not have any children.  In the 1950 census Caroline’s occupation is linotype operator at a newspaper, a skill she may have learned from her time with the Gospel Worker Society.  Caroline died on 31 August 1990 and is buried at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Paolos Verdes, Ca.  Her husband died nine years later and is buried next to her.
