Emma Godshall Reiff, GW #57
Emma was born 28 June 1882 in Upper Salford Township, Montgomery County, Pa to John D. and Mary (Godshall) Reiff. Apparently, the family was connected to the Schwenksville, PA Mennonite Church (Now Eden Fellowship). In the 1900 census Emma was still living at home with her parents and a younger sister; no occupation was listed for 17 year old Emma. As stated in her obituary in the GWS Herald magazine, Emma was converted in Philadelphia in 1903 when attending a meeting conducted by the Gospel Herald Society. In July of 1904 Emma was received into the Gospel Worker Society on six months probation, along with Emma M. Herman, according to a notice in the 23 July 1904 issue of the GWS Herald.
In 1910 and the succeeding census returns Emma is reported as living with the Gospel Worker Society in Cleveland, Ohio. In the 1940 census it is reported that she had nine years of school. Emma died on 10 November 1944 after a brief illness and is buried in the Brooklyn Heights cemetery with other Gospel Workers.
