Emma M. Herman, GW #56

Emma was born in February 1881 in York, Pa. to Milton and Elizabeth (Morehead) Herman.  Sadly, Emma’s mother died when she was only three years old.  Her father married again, giving Emma and her many siblings a mother again.  In 1900, nineteen year old Emma is a box maker, living with her father, step-mother and the siblings that are still at home.  In July of 1904 Emma was received into the Gospel Worker Society on six months probation, along with Emma G. Reiff, according to a notice in the 23 July 1904 issue of the GWS Herald.  In 1910 she is serving at a mission in Norfolk City, Virginia with fellow Gospel Workers S G Brunner, M E Caskie, and F L Wismer.  On October 6 of that year Emma died.  She is buried in the Brooklyn Heights cemetery with other Gospel Workers.  Below is an obituary that was published in the York Daily (a newspaper).
