Emma Moyer Geissinger, GW #15
Emma was born Upper Saucon Township, Lehigh County, Pa on 26 October 1876 to Samuel Y and Catharine (Moyer) Geissinger. At least three children were born to this couple, but it appears that Emma is the only one that survived to adulthood. Emma’s parents and two siblings that died young are buried in the cemetery of Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, Coopersburg, suggesting the family were members there. Emma is one of those people who appear twice in the 1900 census. On 5 June 1900 she is listed with her parents in Bethlehem. Ten days later she is listed in Sunbury with Louisa Musselman, Ada Smith, and Mary Snyder; all four of them are listed as missionaries. In 1910 Emma is in Cleveland with the Gospel Workers there. Emma left the Gospel Workers and joined Annie Spellman’s organization. In 1920 Emma is listed in the census in Chicago with Annie Spellman and others. She does not appear in Detroit with Annie in 1930. Her residence in 1930 remains a mystery. In 1940 we learn that Emma had three years of college as her formal education. She is in Detroit by this time and continues there in 1950. Emma died in October 1968; Highland Park, MI was her last residence. She is buried in Woodland Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
