Hattie B. Musselman, GW #45
Hattie was born 19 February 1876 in Richland Township, Bucks County, Pa to Jonas and Lucy (Brunner) Musselman. Hattie’s father was a preacher but died when Hattie was about 10 years old. In her teen years, Hattie spent some time in New York City where she became acquainted with the Christian Missionary Alliance while working as a maid. The Lord used these acquaintances to get Hattie ready to serve anywhere. Hattie’s mother was Gospel Worker #1. Hattie’s brother was William B. Musselman, considered the founder of the Gospel Worker Society and led it for several decades. Hattie entered the society at the invitation of her brother William on 1 April 1900. Hattie took the time to learn how to play the guitar which was useful in street ministry. She served in Williamsport, Pa and was still there in 1910 after the printing operation moved to Cleveland. By 1920 Hattie had moved to Cleveland, appearing in the city directory at 76 Public Square after most of the Gospel Workers had moved to another address in the city. Hattie joined the others by 1930 and apparently remained with the group for the rest of her life. Hattie died on 16 March 1957 and is buried in the Brooklyn Heights Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio with other Gospel Workers.
