Hazel C. Jacobs, GW #132
Hazel was born in September 1899 in Altoona, Pa to William and Bertha (Hoffman) Jacobs. Most likely Hazel learned of the Gospel Workers because of their ministry in Altoona. Hazel is found with the Gospel Workers in Cleveland in the 1920 and 1930 census. At some point in the 1930s she left the Gospel Workers and married Rev. Arthur Floyd Bell, a divorced man with a young daughter. After his divorce, he and his daughter lived with his parents and other family members. After his marriage to Hazel, his daughter continued to live with his parents. On 28 December 1940 Hazel gave birth prematurely to a baby girl who died the following day. Two years later Hazel and Arthur were blessed with the birth of a son, Arthur Jr. In spite of being ordained, Arthur did not work full-time in the ministry. In the 1930 census he was a machinist with the railroad. In the 1940 census he is listed as a car builder/helper for the railroad. By 1980 Hazel and her husband are living in Tuscon, Arizona where their son was living. Arthur died in 1980 and Hazel followed him on 13 September 1981. Arthur is buried in Logan Valley Cemetery in Bellwood, Blair County, Pa where their baby daughter is buried. Hazel is buried in Tucson, AZ, according to Find-A-Grave, though there is no photograph of a tombstone.
