Lena Carolyn Kraft, GW #94
Lena was born 4 September 1893 in Cleveland, Ohio to August and Bertha (Byers) Kraft, immigrants from Germany. Sadly, Lena’s father died in 1900 when Lena was still very young. The following year her mother married a widower with children; they had several children together, making a full house by the time Lena was a teenager. The only record found that connects this Lena to the Gospel Workers is an entry in the 1913 Cleveland City directory of Lena Kraft living at 76 Public Square with other Gospel Workers. Lena did not stay long. On 7 July 1915 she married Albert Hanson, a first generation American like Lena. Albert’s parents were from Sweden. Lena and Albert had six children, three boys and three girls. Albert was a farmer for most of the years he was working. In their later years they would winter in Florida. Lena died on 19 December 1973 and is buried in the Hillsboro Memorial Cemetery in Brandon, Florida. Her husband died on 15 December 1979 and is buried next to her.
