Mary Ella Junkins, GW#NA
Mary was born on 15 June 1920 in Vindex, Maryland to Laurence A. and Naomi R. (Harvey) Junkins. Her growing up was in Garrett County, Maryland where her father was a meat cutter in a butcher shop and later owned a restaurant, then took up farming. Mary was saved in her early twenties and was baptized in 1947 “in the Little Miami River by the way of immersion,” according to her testimony in her application to the Gospel Worker Society. Mary attended God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, Ohio and was there in 1950 when the census was taken. While in College, she worked as a package wrapper in the college. Mary did not stay with the Gospel Worker Society but I don’t know when she left. In her brother’s 1975 obituary, Mary is mentioned as living in Oakland, Maryland, where her parents had lived many years though they had both passed away. Mary died on 15 September 1996 but her burial place is unknown to me. It appears she never married.
