Minerva M. Nelson, GW #139
Minerva was born 18 January 1897 in Terre Hill, Pa to Daniel and Annie (Edwards) Nelson. By 1910 the family had moved to Reading where Daniel was employed as a cigar maker. Minerva’s older sister Kate was employed as a knitter in a hosiery mill. By 1915 Minerva had followed in her sister’s footsteps. By 1920 Minerva had joined the Gospel Workers. She appears in the census in Cleveland in 1920, 1930, and 1950. I can’t find her in 1940 anywhere; perhaps she got missed by the census taker. Minerva died on 29 August 1972 and is buried in the Brooklyn Heights cemetery with the other Gospel Workers.
