Pearl Elizabeth Miller, GW #133

Pearl was born on 12 May 1902 to Charles and Mary (Haines) Miller of Shamokin, Pennsylvania.  At age 16, she joined the Gospel Worker Society in Cleveland, Ohio.  We find her there in the 1920 census and the 1930 census. She became the assistant editor of the Gospel Herald publication and the editor of the Sunday school quarterly.  At age 32, Pearl was stricken with appendicitis.  Surgery was performed but she did not survive.  She died on 27 May 1934 and is buried with other Gospel Workers in Brooklyn Heights Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.  Pearl’s brother, C. Leslie Miller, was a pastor in our denomination and later was the head of the Gospel Workers Society in Cleveland.  Two of Pearl’s sisters, Bertha and Mary, were missionaries in Africa.  Bertha was also a Gospel Worker for a time.
