Rebecca Kuntz, GW #8
Rebecca was born October 1877 to David and Mary (Haines) Kuntz of Lehigh Township, Northampton County, Pa. Rebecca was a sister to Gospel Worker #37, Sarah Kuntz. In 1880, the family was in the same neighborhood with the Caskies whose daughters Jennie and Mamie also became Gospel Workers. Rebecca was licensed in 1897. In 1900 she is serving as a Gospel Worker in Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pa. with Lillian Musselman and Clara Fetterolf. In 1906 she is listed in the city directory of Williamsport, Pa. On 1 June 1909 she married William Albert Ayers in Altoona, Blair County, Pa. The following year he is listed as an iron worker in the census. Six children were born to Rebecca and William. In 1914, while they were building their family, they joined the Salvation Army in Morgantown, WV. They served in Steubenville and Canton, OH, and Ithaca, Oswego, and Lockport, NY. They spent a year in Columbus, OH, then retired to Mansfield OH in 1937. They stayed involved in the ministry of the Salvation Army in their retirement. William died in 1953. Rebecca died on 24 February 1973 in Mansfield, OH. Rebecca and William are buried in the Mansfield, Ohio cemetery. They had many grandchildren and have descendants living today.
