Sarah Elizabeth Ebersole, GW #47
Sarah was born 14 March 1881 in Shamokin, Pa. to Samuel and Laura (Derr) Ebersole. In her siblings’ obituaries, she is referred to as Elizabeth. Her sister Laura also served as a Gospel Worker. Her mother died when Sarah was only 15, leaving Sarah to run the household to keep the family together. Sarah was born again in the Gospel Worker mission in Shamokin, Pa. She entered the Society on 9 August 1901. Almost all her ministry was in city missions. She majored in house to house visitation and colportage work. She spent time in York, Sunbury, Williamsport, Altoona, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. In the 1910 census she is listed in Pittsburgh with the Gospel Workers there. In 1925 she is listed in the Cleveland, Ohio city directory. The following year she is in Pittsburgh again. In the 1930 census she is listed in Pittsburgh with four other Gospel Workers. By 1942 she is back in Cleveland and may have been there for the rest of her life. She died on 26 June 1961 and is buried in the Brooklyn Heights cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio with other Gospel Workers.
