Sarah J. Lord, GW #64
Sarah was born on 28 July 1882 to Thomas and Ida Bedford Lord. In 1900, the family was living in Williamsport. Thomas is a day laborer and seventeen-year-old Sarah is a “silk worker.” She probably joined the Gospel Workers because of the mission work there. A Sarah James Lord became a member of St Paul’s Methodist church in Williamsport, Pa. on 1 February 1903. On 10 April 1905 she moved away with certificate. I believe this is the same Sarah J. Lord. By 1910 Sarah was in Cleveland, Ohio, with the Gospel Workers. Sarah continued her work in the Gospel Worker Society; she is listed in the 1940 census in Cleveland, Ohio, with the group there. Sarah died on 28 September 1944 and is buried in the Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio, with other Gospel Worker Society women.
