Wilma E. Miskoley, GW#157
Wilma was born on 12 January 1909 in Renovo, Clinton County, Pennsylvania to Alexander and Susan (Haas) Miskoley, immigrants from Hungary. By 1928 Wilma had joined the Gospel Worker Society; she appears in the Cleveland City Directory that year and is listed as a missionary in the Gospel Worker Society. In the 1930 census her parents are listed in McKeesport, Alleghany County, Pa. which is closer to where some Gospel Worker activity was. Is this where she learned of the Gospel Worker Society? She does not appear in the list of Gospel Workers in the 1940 census. According to her obituary, Wilma left Cleveland in 1944 with friend Margaret Wood to go to Kentucky to do child evangelism. They started their work in Morgan County. Wilma had been ordained a minister by the Fundamental Minsterial Board in Jollet, IL. Her first ministry in Kentucky was to pastor the Union Church in Cannel City for about 11 years. On 8 November 1853 Wilma and Margaret started an orphanage to care for children without parents or whose parents were unable to care for them. Over 900 children lived some part of their lives at the orphanage. In an interview, Margaret said, “We knew each other in Cleveland where we were employed as printers with a Cleveland Newspaper.” Margaret does not appear on the list of Gospel Workers. It appears Wilma worked for a commercial newspaper company. The orphanage eventually closed its doors, provision for needy children being taken care of by foster parents. Wilma died on 4 August 1985 and is buried with Margaret Wood Fletcher in the Sayler Cemetery, West Liberty, Morgan County, Kentucky.
