Yeahl, Emma R., GW#120

Emma was born in 1894 in Lehigh County to Lewis and Martha (Weiss) Yeahl, sometimes spelled Yale. Her sister Alice also served as a Gospel Worker. In 1895 tragedy struck the family when Alice’s father died instantly in an accident while on the job for the Lehigh Valley Railroad. For some reason, Emma is not listed in the same household as her mother for the 1900 census (was she missed by mistake?). In 1910 she is listed in the census with her mother and brothers in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, Pa. Her mother had already remarried by this time. At some point, Emma joined the Gospel Worker Society and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Her service was cut short on 19 December 1918 when she succumbed to the Spanish flu. She is buried in the Brooklyn Heights Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio, with other Gospel Workers. The photo below is Emma with her nephew, Randy Wentz.
