Report of the
Historical Committee
The Historical Committee has met once since the last meeting of Annual Conference. The work of collecting and preserving material relating to our history continues at a steady pace. We continue to receive donations of historically significant materials. Churches as well as the boards and committees of Annual Conference should consider placing their out-of- date minutes and records in the archives for safe keeping. We continue to lose valuable information and materials to old dusty attics and those who venture to empty them out. If you are a secretary who has been holding out-of-date minutes, consider putting them where they will not be lost.
Yesterday’s Tomorrow, a series of 12 lessons on our doctrine and history, have been completed. These lessons will enable you to look through the doctrinal statements in our Faith & Order as well as learn how we came to hold them. These lessons will give you a taste of our history as well as deepen your understanding of our doctrinal positions. Samples of these lessons are being distributed at this conference.
