Report of the

Ministerial Candidate Committee

      The Ministerial Candidate Committee has met nine times since the last meeting of Annual Conference.

      The following men were interviewed: David T. Allen, Elliott H. Ramos, Vincent S. Russ, David C. Butler, Charles E. Cole, David N. Heineman, Brian H. Cooper, and Jeffrey D. LaSpina.

      Clyde D. Bomgardner, Jr. and Timothy S. Cowen were approved as probationers eligible to receive a call and were issued licenses during the year.

      Charles E. Cole, David N. Heineman and Brian H. Cooper were recommended to the Committee on Credentials for ordination examination.

      An orientation seminar was held for the men under the care of the Ministerial Candidate Committee and the pastors of our denomination. On Tuesday, June 3, Dr. Haddon Robinson of Gordon Conwell Seminary presented a seminar entitled, “A Preacher’s Journey: How to Maintain Relevance.”

      An orientation seminar has been scheduled for June 1-4, 1998, at Calvary BFC, Coopersburg, PA. On Tuesday, June 2, a seminar on practical theology will be held which will focus on the themes of pastoral care and pastoral life. Pastors are invited.

      The Committee in consultation with the Ministerial Relations Committee and the Committee on Credentials recommends the following:

      Resolved, that the Chairman of Annual Conference appoint a committee of five to prepare revisions of the Faith & Order that recognize the presence of multiple pastoral staffs in our churches.
