Report of the

Ministerial Candidate Committee

          The Ministerial Candidate Committee met for nine regularly-scheduled meetings and two special meetings during the year.

          The following men were interviewed during the conference year: Clyde D. Bomgardner, Jr., Timothy S. Cowen, Louis S. Curcio, Donald R. Hibbs, Kenneth J. Hurst, James D. MacArthur, Duane E. Moyer, Richard A. Moyer, Stephen T. Roth, Jeffrey L. Ruhl, and Arthur J. Simpson, Jr.

          The following men were approved as probationers eligible to receive a call: Andrew T. Crossgrove, William J. Dunn, David R. Karn, and Thomas J. Maurer.

          The following men received calls and were approved as licensed probationers: Andrew T. Crossgrove, William J. Dunn, and Thomas J. Maurer.

          In consultation with the Ministerial Relations Committee, the committee developed a provisional procedure for allowing men to serve as supply pastors in churches after partially completing our examination process.

          An orientation seminar will be held June 6-8, 2000. On Tuesday, June 6, a pastoral theology seminar will be held to discuss and share ideas on conducting weddings, funerals, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, dedications, and anointing with oil. Pastors now serving are invited to participate in the discussions.

: That the following amendment to the Faith and Order be adopted at first reading to section 513:4:

(3) A probationer eligible for a call is a man who has been approved by this committee, has passed the examinations required by the committee, and is eligible to be called through the rules of pulpit supply.

(4) A probationer eligible for a call becomes a licensed probationer when one of the following occurs:

(4.1) he has been called through the Rules of Pulpit Supply to serve in a Bible Fellowship Church;

(4:2) he has been called through the Rules of Pulpit Supply to serve in one of the denominational agencies of the Bible Fellowship Church;

(4:3) he is serving in a ministry approved by the Ministerial Candidate Committee in consultation with the Committee on Credentials.
