Report of the

Ministerial Candidate Committee

          The Ministerial Candidate Committee met nine times since the last Annual Conference.

          The following men were interviewed during the year: Charles L. Bennett, Raymond R. Bertolet, Gerald D. Clark, Michael L. Easton, Donald R. Ellwanger, Robert K. Fields, Kevin W. Kirkpatrick, Ronald L. Kohl, Stephen C. Mann, and Elliot H. Ramos.

          The following men were approved as probationers eligible to receive a call: Donald R. Ellwanger and Leland C. Stauff.

          The following men received calls and were approved as licensed probationers: David T. Allen, Donald R. Ellwanger, and Leland C. Stauff.

          An orientation seminar was held for men under the care of the Ministerial Candidate Committee, June 6-8, 2000. The Tuesday afternoon session of this seminar was devoted to pastoral theology and allowed for discussion and sharing of ideas about such topics as weddings, funerals, baptisms, the Lord’s Supper, dedications and anointing with oil.

          This year’s orientation seminar will be held June 5-7, 2001. This year’s seminar will include a time for sermon evaluation for those who are candidates and probationers. Details of the seminar will be given at a later time.

          The Ministerial Candidate Committee has changed some of its procedures. The Faith and Order Exams will now be given at scheduled times determined by the Committee. Men wishing to take exams will be notified of the scheduled times for such examinations.

Whereas, there is a growing trend for Bible Fellowship Churches to hire personnel who do not serve as senior pastor and do not carry credentials in the BFC and

Whereas, such non-credentialed personnel may carry significant leadership influence in the congregation, and

Whereas, it is the opinion of the Ministerial Candidate Committee that such non-credentialed personnel who serve in Bible Fellowship Churches should maintain a commitment to the Faith & Order of the BFC, therefore be it

Resolved, that the Chairman of the Annual Conference appoint a committee of six to study the advisability of a credentialing process for personnel who do not serve as senior pastor and are not credentialed by the BFC, and further

Resolved that this committee be comprised of two members from each of the Ministerial Candidate Committee, the Committee on Credentials and the Ministerial Relations Committee, and further

Resolved that, if such credentialing be deemed advisable by the committee, the committee shall develop a process for credentialing such personnel and further

Resolved, that this committee shall report to the next Annual Conference.
