Report of the
Board of Youth & Young Adults
The purpose of the Board of Youth and Young Adults is to bring glory to God and honor to God as it ministers to the adult youth leaders, teens, and young adults of the BFC. We do this by: 1) Promoting unity, 2) Providing training, and 3) Being a catalyst for networking.
To these ends we as a board met four times this year. We planned and operated several events to try to accomplish these goals.
This year we reorganized our committee structure in order to more efficiently do our business. We now have: Events Committee, which oversees the events we plan; Leadership Committee, which oversees our Leadership and “Here Am I Send Me” retreats; and Young Adult Committee, which oversees the ministry with young adults.
The BFC Mission to Youth
We strongly believe that we as a board and we as a denomination must be ever growing in our efforts with the young people in our sphere of influence. We have a wonderful opportunity with many children in our churches and with many whom they can contact. It is better to reach them early. George Barna has said, “Adults essentially carry out the beliefs they embraced when they were young. The reason why Christians are so similar in their attitudes, values and lifestyles to non-Christians is that they were not challenged to think and behave differently – radically differently, based on core spiritual perspectives, when they were children. We believe that the time is now to reach out to them with all the ferver we can muster.”
We are here to help in any way we can. Our goal is to offer as much help as possible, and we are working on plans to help.
One way is with One Voice. We have a great program set up for Saturday night, May 22, 2004. From 4:30 PM until 6:15 PM we have Stabler Arena for BFC youth. For this special time we have Daniel’s Window, Dr. Buster Soaries and CPR Comedy. Then the doors are opened for the youth-designed evening concert with Jars of Clay. This is a great opportunity. Use it.
