Report of the
Board of Communications
For the Word of God is living and active.
Sharper than any double-edged sword . . .
Hebrews 4:12
The writer of Hebrews understood the power of God’s Word. Truly it digs into the deepest recesses of one’s spiritual heart and soul. The Board of Communication understands its role in the propagation of that Word from the position of being a BFC Board. Most of our materials are a response of how that Word is interpreted and understood in our faith tradition (Faith & Order, Articles of Faith, Biblical Principles for Living). We also produce words that inform, encourage, uplift and challenge (Fellowship News). And with our website we disseminate information helpful to those seeking that Word or portraying it.
More specifically here is what the Board of Communication has been doing:
• Fellowship News, in its 42nd year of operation, is edited by Carol Snyder. Approximately 5000 copies of each of the eleven issues are distributed annually to our constituents via the churches.
• The Faith & Order was reprinted in 2006. Revision pages will be produced until it is deemed necessary by Annual Conference for another reprinting.
• Approximately 800 copies of the 2007 Yearbook were sold.
• A CD was produced containing the Faith & Order plus the 2007 Yearbook and several others Yearbooks.
• The Board continues to maintain a supply of materials needed by our churches such as booklets, attendance cards and certificates.
• Our website – www.bfc.org continues to draw attention by those seeking information about the BFC (average of 52 visits each day).
• Yahoo-Groups Email – keeping pastors and delegates informed with announcements and other pertainment information
We thank those who have volunteered and assisted the Board of Communications this past year: Rachel Anderson (Treasurer), Carol Snyder (Editor), Scott Ott (Webservant) and Scott and Roy Hertzog for their work with the Yahoo-group. Thanks also to the many who submitted articles for the Fellowship News.
At the last Annual Conference we presented a new logo to the conference. Available at this Annual Conference will be printed material explaining the use of the logo. Copies of the logo, as well as the guidelines and video explaining the logo will be on the annual CD which also contains the updated Faith & Order and 2008 Yearbook. We hope to have this CD available by June.
We are always happy that service organizations are willing to come to each Annual Conference. Vendors make a donation to the Yearbook and are given an ad in the Yearbook as a thanks. Sponsors for the Fellowship News would be greatly appreciated and would help underwrite the cost of the Fellowship News. If you know of businesses that might benefit from this opportunity, please let us know.
