Report of the
Ministerial Candidate Committee
Since May, 2009, the Ministerial Candidate Committee met eight times to carry out its responsibilities.
The Committee has been following a new procedure which has been working well and serves to expedite the process of approval. When a man applies, he begins by filling out the questionnaires which are found at the denominational website. Following the submission of the questionnaires, he meets with a member of the Committee for a preliminary interview. If it is determined that he should proceed, the applicant completes an open book theology exam. If the open book examination is approved, he is then given an oral examination on the Articles of Faith. This important examination serves two purposes: first, it requires that men who serve with us know the Articles of Faith.; second, it allows the Committee to determine if the candidate endorses them. At the completion of the examination on the Articles of Faith, the candidate is approved as a probationer eligible to receive a call. When a man receives a call, he is licensed and begins his two year probationary service (one year if previously ordained). At the completion of his probationary service, the probationer is referred to the Committee on Credentials for final approval and recommendation to the BFC Conference.
The following men have been recommended during the year for ordination examination: Carlos Rodriguez, Joshua Miller and Mark Evans.
The following men were licensed: James Arcieri, Mark Bickel, and Matthew Lynskey.
The following men were approved as probationers eligible to receive a call: Richard Bickings, Matthew Lynskey, Richard Jensen, Edwin Suthers, Phillip Meyer and Justin Hunter.
