Report of the

Ministerial Candidate Committee

            Since its last report in February, 2011, the Committee has met 10 times to interview 15 men. The Committee met on one occasion to discuss a program for training men in Mexico. Marco Ramirez and Gary Shogren were able to participate in this meeting through Skype.

            The process for recognizing applicants has been streamlined. It begins with a preliminary interview with a member of the Committee. If that interview is satisfactory, the applicant moves to the Open Book Examination. Upon satisfactory completion of that examination, the man meets with the Committee for an oral examination on the Articles of Faith. The applicant must demonstrate to the Committee that he knows the Articles of Faith and is committed to them. Upon completing the Articles of Faith Examination satisfactorily, the applicant becomes a probationer eligible to receive a call. When he receives a call from a church or ministry, he is approved as a licensed probationer who will serve the proscribed period of time. When the probationer completes his probationary period, the Committee seeks recommendations from the church or ministry he has served. If those recommendations are positive, the Committee interviews the applicant and recommends him to the Ministerial Credentials Committee for ordination examination.

            Mark A. Bickel, Colby A. Weinhofer and R. Scott Wright were recommended this year for ordination examination.

            The following men were licensed since the last report: Joshua M. Allen, Richard F. Bickings Jr., Jordan K. Eyster, Jason L. Hoy, Keith M. Long, Bryan McNally, David A. Smith, Ronald B. Smith and Keith S. Strunk.

            The following men were approved as probationers eligible to receive a call: Timothy D. Gibson, Jonathan H. King, and Aaron D. Smith.
