Report of the
Board of Youth & Young Adults
The Board of Youth and Young Adults met four (4) times to conduct its business and three (3) committees met as needed. Our events and young adults committees were especially active this year.
Events Committee:
This committee is charged with the Sno-Glo retreats that are held on three weekends each January. This year, our key speakers were Josh Kappes (two weekends) and Michael Howard Jr. (one weekend). Both speakers received excellent evaluations. Liberti Worship Band provided the musical worship for all three weekends. Although as a board we thought that the retreat was really good again this year, we have noticed that there is still a downward trend in attendance. We will continue to investigate and discuss this and would appreciate any input.
With great assistance from Victory Valley Camp, we reinstituted an old tradition on Black Friday with the first Thanksgiving Youth Rally in several years. The event was well-planned and those who attended enjoyed themselves; we trust that strong word-of-mouth will lead to increased attendance in 2012.
Young Adult Committee:
Our young adults committee has been especially active and has branched out to explore missions possibilities, starting with a first-ever BFC-wide missions trip to Mexico this July, where a team of 10 from eight BFC churches will work alongside BFC missionaries Art & Vicki Reyes.
In addition, our young adults held coffeehouses, a “Day of Fun” at Victory Valley Camp in April and our annual BFC Young Adults retreat at Pinebrook, with Mark Barninger as our speaker. This year’s young adult retreat is scheduled for June 8-10, with Dan Williams speaking.
We encourage our pastors and delegates to keep their respective churches’ young adults up-to-date on our activities. Facebook has been a primary means of communication, and we are especially thankful to sub-committee members Rachel Norris, Mark Bickel and Lisa Kellerman for their involvement.
Board of Youth and Young Adults: Ronald L. Kohl, Chairman; Mark R. Evans, Vice Chairman; Jonathan H. King, Secretary; Aaron J. Susek, Treasurer; Lisa F. Kellerman, Robert B. Kramer, Dorothy L. Ruch, Steve DelDuco, Beth Wiegand.
