Report of the
Youth and Young Adults Committee
The Board of Youth and Young Adults met four (4) times to conduct its business, and three (3) committees met as needed.
Events Committee
This committee is charged with the Sno-Glo retreats that are held on three successive weekends each January. This year, our speakers were Kevin Skaer (middle school and combined weekends) and Matt Lynskey (high school weekend). Both speakers received excellent evaluations as each worked through Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Wes Checkeye and his worship band provided musical worship and received wonderful
reviews. The board thought that the retreat went very well again this year, and attendance increased from the previous year. We seek to continue to improve our program in hopes that we will have an impact on more teens than the previous year. Any input is welcomed and appreciated by the board.
Leadership Committee
The leadership committee had a youth pastor or key leader breakfast at both the high school and combined Sno-Glos. At the breakfast the facilitator cover the topic of integrating teens into the larger body of Christ. After the facilitator shared he had the pastor or key leaders break into small groups and discuss the topic and questions about the topic. It was well received by the pastors and leaders.
Young Adult Committee
A first-ever BFC Young Adults short-term missions trip went off splendidly last summer as nine young adults from eight different churches served in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, assisting longtime BFC missionaries Art & Vicky Reyes on work projects and VBS ministry. In addition, our young adults have remained active with coffee houses, a “Day of Fun” at Victory Valley Camp and our annual young adults retreat. We are examining the potential for moving our retreat to the New Jersey shore as a means of attracting young adults from more of our churches. We appreciate any assistance our pastors and delegates can give in publicizing upcoming events in each church.
