Report of Pinebrook Junior College to BFC Conference: 1990

Report of the Board of Directors, Pinebrook Junior College

Pinebrook Junior College invites all Bible Fellowship Church members and friends to celebrate its 40 years of service to God and our church. We thank our Lord for those serving Him around the world with training from Berean and Pinebrook. We look forward to growth in effectiveness and in numbers in this educational program to develop the ability of men and women to serve God in ministry and in many other vocations.

During those forty years, the College has caught the attention and rallied the support of some of our people. We have served many students from our churches in these years. We are extremely thankful for the contributions from churches and from the many individuals who are members of our churches. We must find ways of attracting and serving more of our young people; we need increased contributions. We pray that the Joshua’s Army Campaign for our 40th Anniversary will promote this. We believe this is possible because of the evident growth and satisfaction of the graduates of the College.

The College seeks to enroll at least one student from each of our churches. Our programs offer students a good beginning college education with Bible study and emphasis on personal Christian growth. Pinebrook offers a Transfer Program (two of the four years for a bachelor’s degree), Secretarial Science and Surgical Technology.

The American Association of Bible Colleges granted us candidacy for accreditation in October, 1989. Self study is now in process to prepare for examination for full membership. That decision will come in October, 1993.

In early 1990, Pennsylvania Higher Education Association Agency began again to make grants to our students on the basis of the AABC accreditation.

On June 30, Carol Z. Snyder completed twelve years of service to the College as Director of Admissions. We thank her for the energy and concern she invested in students, their families and the college during these years. During her service the enrollment of the college doubled. She is working half time for Pinebrook in the 40th Anniversary Campaign through December, 1990. At that time, having served the College for more than 14 years, she will begin work with our Church Extension Department.

Dr. Rodney H. Long became our Director of Admissions after ten years of work for Bethel College (St. Paul, Minnesota) in Student Development. We are thankful for his work in this important and demanding part of the life of the College.

Our fiscal picture is not what we desire it to be. The pressures of these days are high; we seek to be responsible in the use of our resources. The help and active participation of each church in sending students and financial help will enable us to continue to prepare students to serve God in today’s world. Many young people—from our churches and from others—need the perspective Pinebrook has been raised up to provide.
