Celia R. Wolf, GW #140

Celia was born on 18 September 1899 in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pa to Barton and Sallie (Bryan) Wolf.  Terre Hill Borough was carved out of East Earl Township; the family was connected to Berean Bible Fellowship Church of Terre Hill as evidenced by obituaries.  In February of 1916 Celia’s father died leaving a widow and six children still at home.  Celia, a middle child, was 16 years old.  At some point Celia joined the Gospel Workers.  She appears in the 1920 census with them in Cleveland, and again in 1930.  Her whereabouts in 1940 are yet undiscovered.  She left the Gospel Workers at some point and married Carlton M. Taft, a photographer.  Carlton was born in Somers, Connecticut.  His parents divorced when he was young, and he grew up in the household of his grandmother, step-grandfather, and mother.  In 1914 Carlton married Polish immigrant Lottie Antczak.  They appear together in the census of 1920 and 1930.  I have not discovered what happened to end the marriage.  Neither have I found where and when Celia married Carlton.  Neither Celia’s nor Carlton’s obituary mentions any children from the marriage.  The Tafts lived in Baltimore, Md for a time and were there at the time of Carlton’s death in 1971.  Celia died on 31 December 1990 and is buried next to her husband in Terre Hill Cemetery where some of Celia’s family are buried.
