2011 Report of Communications

Report of the

Board of Communications

And He rolled up the scroll and give it back to the attendant and sat down.

And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

And He said: “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.

Luke 4:20f

There are several things to take note of from the above passage: our Lord in the synagogue setting; reading the Scriptures; the declaration of the fulfillment of the Isaiah passage; and the scroll from which He read. That scroll, containing the Word of God, was kept in the synagogue, read during Sabbath and special occasions, then returned to its resting place after being wrapped in cloth or leather.

We are certainly grateful for the care given to the sacred texts by the Jewish religious leaders and allowing for it to be passed down basically unmolested. We are equally thankful for the printing press, copy machines, and digital copies which now allow for the flooding of the world with God’s Word.

The Board of Communication does not need to concern itself with the printing or distribution of God’s Word. There are plenty who take care of that. But we do handle the BFC writings and interpretation of God’s Word in various documents and forms. For instance, although the present hard-copy of the Faith & Order, which contains that which we affirm and believe, is now woefully out-of-date, due to many of the recent changes in the administration of the denomination as represented in the “Order” section, an updated copy is available via CD and at our website. The Fellowship News, which has reported on conference activities, encouraged us with stimulating articles and kept us up-to-date with the happenings of the BFC family, celebrates it’s fiftieth anniversary by transforming itself, once again, into something we believe will be even more practical – a monthly bulletin insert sent via email or downloaded from the website as a PDF suitable for coping on pre-printed paper and distributing to the fellowship. A new publication, periodical fashion, BFC OneVoice, will debut soon in both print and online. We hope that this latest edition to the Board of Communications family will permit us to expand in our writings and presentations.

We specially wish to thank Carol Snyder for the work she has done as Editor of the Fellowship News since 1996. She has served us with unselfish devotion as she put together each issue. We welcome her daughter, Carolyn Ritter, as the new editor of the Fellowship News and her husband, Pastor Ralph E. Ritter, as the overseer of BFC OneVoice.

Of course this board continues to print the Yearbook, booklets (Articles of Faith and Biblical Principles for Living in both English and Spanish and a number of helpful reports from past Annual Conferences), as well as other supplies.

The BFC website, www.bfc.org continues to expand with more and more resources including the new Executive Director’s Blog. Donald E. Kuntzman is now the webservant.

The Board of Communications wishes to remind the BFC Conference that we have an excellent and almost instantaneous way of communicating via the Yahoo-Groups. Denomination-wide prayer requests, announcements and important information from Departments is disseminated via this means. We believe that it is imperative that each pastor and delegate, church secretary and administrative assistant be involved by receiving these emails. Donald E. Kuntzman (don@bfcbom.org) is the one who oversees this vital ministry. He is assisted by Roy A. Herzog (rahertzog@verizon.net). If you have not been receiving these emails, please email Don.

It is important that communication continue between us, therefore the following emails, addresses, and phone numbers are provided.

Bills and orders should be sent to the following address:
