2011 Report of Youth

Report of the

Board of Youth & Young Adults

The Board of Youth and Young Adults met four (4) times to conduct its business and three (3) committees met as needed.

Events Committee:

This committee is charged with the Sno-Glo retreats that are held on three weekends each January. This year, our key speakers were Kevin Skaer (two weekends) and Tom Allen (one weekend). Both speakers received excellent evaluations. Reilly provided the musical worship and received excellent reviews. Although as a board we thought that the retreat was really good again this year, we have noticed that there is still a downward trend in attendance. We will continue to investigate and discuss this and would appreciate any input.

Leadership Committee:

This committee plans the “Here Am I, Send Me” retreats. These retreats are for those young men who are considering pastoral ministry in the BFC. Two of these retreats have been held so far. We do them when we have indications that there are some that would be interested. If you have knowledge of anyone that might be considering pastoral ministry, please contact us.

Young Adult Committee:

This committee has been active and has been blessed with increased interest from young adults in several of our churches. We successfully held a retreat at Pinebrook last June, with Aaron Susek as speaker, a day of fun at Victory Valley Camp in April, and multiple coffeehouse events. We are committed to building support and encouragement throughout the BFC Churches, using BFC facilities. This year’s young adult retreat is scheduled for June 10-12 at Pinebrook with Mark Barninger as the guest speaker. The theme for the weekend will be centered on Friendship. We encourage our pastors and delegates to support this event by communicating upcoming young adult events throughout your respective congregations.

Board of Youth and Young Adults: Ronald L. Kohl, Chairman; Mark R. Evans, Vice Chairman; Jonathan H. King, Secretary; Aaron J. Susek, Treasurer; Lisa F. Kellerman, Robert B. Kramer, Dorothy L. Ruch, Steve DelDuco, Beth Wiegand.
