2013 Report of Christian Education

Report of the

Christian Education Committee

“For you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory. And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.” (1 Thessalonians 2:11-13 ESV)

As of the date of this report, our full committee has not met since our previous report (to the 129th annual meeting of the BFC Conference). However our “Curriculum Subcommittee” (5 members) has continued to produce both adult and children’s curriculum for more effectively teaching our BFC Articles of Faith, and our “Post-Secondary Education Subcommittee” (4 members) met one time to try to solidfy our thinking on, and develop strategies for, our subcommittee’s specfic assignments. Our “BFC Communication & Creativity Subcommittee” has only one member so nothing was done to communicate with our growing Advisory Council or to follow up on new ideas or requests for our entire committee.

We are very pleased that in addition to our own ten committee members, 24 additional members of the BFC at large have joined our interactive website at http://bested.ning.

com/ as an “Advisory Council” to help guide us in our work. This number is up from 16 members a year ago. Any member of the BFC is invited to join our ranks by simply writing to chaplain_john@verizon.net and requesting an online invitation. This larger Advisory Council also provides a pool of interested and gifted people in the BFC

from which the Executive Board can, if they so choose, nominate new members to the Christian Education Committee to bolster our ranks.

Sadly, two members of our Committee have had to resign this past year, thus creating several vacancies that will need to be filled.

Please pray for our committee to have much wisdom and strength from the Lord as we

seek to honor Him with the ongoing challenges before us.

Christian Education Committee: Chairman (vacant); J. Richard Vroman, Secretary;

Mark E. Barninger; Davis E. Duggins; Rachel (Norris) Marks; Richard Mastronardo;

David J. Peters; Michael D. Roberts; Thomas J. Sorg; plus one more vacancy.
