Description
Rose of Sharon Hymns Revisited brings together some of the best hymns and Gospel songs of the 1917 hymnal published by the Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church, plus one hymn not in the original “Rose of Sharon”, but known by many as “the Denominational Anthem” of the M. B. in C., “The Full Reward”.
Seven of the selections are “indigenous” hymns of the M. B. in C., written and composed by C. H. Brunner and H. B. Musselman, early ministers of the Church. Many of the others were selected for their “singability” and because of their wide use in the denomination. A strong consideration in the selection process has been the fact that almost all of the numbers are not available in the hymnals in general usage today.
We have reproduced the original title page and “Introductory Note” because of their obvious historical interest.
We hope these “Songs of Zion” will be enjoyed and loved by those who learn and sing today these expressions of the “Faith of Our Fathers … and Mothers”, which is ou r faith too.
